Artist comments

The illustrations are for my picture book project, The Elephant and The Bicycle.
It's a charming story of an elephant dreaming of having a bicycle.
I wanted it to be dreamy but also have a feeling of being real.
The collage technique let me move from just a two-dimensional drawing into almost a three-dimensional world.

Beautiful bold light colors with lots of humour.
The collage technique contribute alot to the atmosphere.

This is an outstanding work, brimming with childlike charm.
The paper-cut effects and exaggerated forms make it particularly unique.

Yidong Cai

These works are great! The freshness of the collage technique along with the clear and well-designed shapes produces a fun and very attractive effect.
The art process gives the artist the chance to overcome the constraints of his preferred medium but also gives the chance to play around with his very own and beautiful human constraints.
AI deprived us from this. Stay strong.

The challenge of the cute elephant character trying to ride a bicycle was really interesting and memorable.
The collage technique accentuated the shape language and made this painting even more special.

It was an interesting work using collage.
The deformed elephant characters and the expressions on the elephants' faces as they tried to somehow ride their bicycles were so endearing that I couldn't help but smile.
